Meet the team – Dr Brendan Horsfield

As part of our continuing ‘Meet the Team’ series, today we’d love to introduce you to Vecta Labs’ Principal R&D Engineer, Dr Brendan Horsfield – see our Q&A with Brendan here:

Q1. How long have you worked with Vecta Labs?
I’ve worked with Vecta Labs for the past 2 years and 6 months.

Q2. What do you enjoy most about working with Vecta Labs?
Vecta operates in a somewhat unusual space between network operators, OEMs, equipment installers and field maintenance staff.  This environment throws up many interesting technical challenges for an R&D engineer, from complex issues relating to the testing of large RF assemblies, to spectral analysis tasks requiring innovative signal processing solutions and next-generation test instruments.

Q3. Can you describe what a typical day at work is like for you?
I am currently based in Vecta’s Brisbane office.  On a typical day at work I will usually have a variety of tasks on the go.  Much of my work involves addressing metrological issues relating to Vecta’s production testing activities, including measurement uncertainty estimation, instrument calibration and verification.  I am also actively involved in developing new tools and techniques to enhance Vecta’s interference mitigation & remediation capabilities.

Q4. Outside of work, what do you enjoy doing?
I do a fair bit of recreational running, especially in the cooler months when the humidity in Brisbane isn’t so intense!
